Dwarka

Dwarka Temple is also known as Dwarkadhish Temple or Mokshapuri, Dwarka is one of the most famous Hindu temple located in Dwarka Gujarat. The Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishn. In Dwarka Krishn is known as King of Dwarka (Dwarkadhish). Dwarka is also a Char Dham piligrimage sites along (with Badrinath, Puri and Rameswaram).

According the scriptures like the Mahabharata and Harivamsa Purana, after Krishn left earth from the city of Dwarka submerged into the sea. Marine archeological studies in the gulf of khambhat and near bet dwarka support the idea of ancient sunken city.

In Garbhagriha a black idol of lord krishna with four arms, a 52-yard long multicolored flag is hoisted daily, a traditional maintained by temple priests. gomti ghat is a sacred riverbank where devotees takes a holy dip. The Height of temple is about 78 meters (256  feet).

Rukmini Mata Mandir 

Rukmini Mata is queen of Dwarka, Rukmini Mata Mandir is Located about 2 km from Dwarka Temple.

Mandir is Located 2 km from dwarka because there was popular story from Skanda Purana and Local Folklore that One upon a time there was sage Durvasa who was invited by Lord Krishna and rukmini for a meal, on the way rukmini mata became thirsty. Krishna created a stream of the Ganga(from the earth) for her, Rukmini drank water without offering to the sage first, which offended Durvasa. In angfer he cursed her to live separately fro krishna. Hence, her temple is located 2 km from dwarkadhish temple. There was a ritual to denote water here to symbolize respect for rukmini devi.

Nageshwar Jyotirlinga 

Another name of Jyotirlinga is Nagnath Temple, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of lord shiva, located about 17 km from dwarka, It represents protection from poison, fear, and evil.

A demon couple daruka and daruki ruled a forest called darukavana. They captured a shiva devotee named supriya and imprisoned his along with other, Supriya continued chanting Om Namah Shivaya inside the prison. Pleased with his devotion, lord shiva appeared and vanquished the demon. Shiva jyotirlinga to protect devotees- now known as Nageshwar Jyotirlinga. 

Temple Feature - Main Sanctum : Houses a swayambhu ( Self-Manifested) Shiva Linga. Giant Shiva Statue : A 25 meter tall sitting statue of lord shiva outside the temple is a major attraction.

Gomti Ghat 

Gomti Ghat is located behind the dwarkadhish Temple, Gomti ghat is situated on the on the gomti river which is believed to descend from heaven, If a take a dip at gomati ghat is considered highly sacred in hindusim it washes away sins.

Dwarka Mandir

According to the legend the gomti river is the daughter of sage vashistha and descended from heaven to earth. It is believed that lord krishna performed rituals here and many rishis and sages also did penance on the banks of the gomti, Piligrims believe a bath in gomti is as purifying as bathing in the ganga. there was a bridge called sudama setu to connect the gomti ghat to panchkui tirth across the river.

Gopi Talav 

Gopi Talav also known as gopi kund, it is about 20 km from dwarka, A small sacred pond (talav) surronded by golden- yellow soil. It was believed to be where gopi's from vrindavan reunited with lord krishna. after the krishna moved to dwarka the gopis of vrindavan missed him deeply. they traveled all the way to dwarka to see him once again.

At gopi talav  lord krishna met them and performed raas leela (devine dance) one last time. After the raas, the gopis merged with krishna soul attaining moksha. The lake and its yellow soil are considered a symbol of their pure devotion. best time to visit (6-10am) or (4-70pm) for a peaceful visit.   

Bet Dwarka 

Bet dwarka is Located about 30 km from dwarka in the Arabian Sea, Bet dwarka built in sacred island
known as Shankhodhar or Bet dwarka, It was believed to be the original residential palace of lord krishna, where lord krishna lived with his family and ruled over the yadava kingdom.

Dwarka Mandir

Name of bet dwarka is because when Sudama(Krishna Friend) visit bet dwarka so he gave a bet (Gift) to krishn and that act of frindship and gift giving is than the name of a bet dwarka.
