Jaipur is called the "Pink City" because in 1876, prince of Wales "Albert Edward" came to Jaipur for visit, that time Maharaja Ram Singh had painted entire city color into pink, which symbolize "Hospitality".

Places to Visit in Jaipur

Amber Fort 

Amber Fort, popularly known as the "Amer Fort", one of the most magnificent historical fort of India and symbolise the royal heritage of  Rajasthan, located about 15 km from Jaipur Railway Station nested on a hilltop overlooking Maota Lake.

Amber Fort is famous for its stunning blend of Rajput and Mughal Architecture, intricate carvings, sheesh mahal, grand courtyards, gates, palaces and part of the "Hill Forts of Rajasthan" recognized by UNESCO.

Jaipur

Amber Fort served as the capital of the "Kachwaha Rajputs", which makes the fort important centre of political and military power at that time. The fort remained the residence of the royal family until the capital was shifted to Jaipur. 

Amber Fort is known for it well planned layout and architectural design, the fort is mainly divided into four main courtyards ( Jaleb Chowk, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas, Zenana) and each serving as a specific purpose.

Hawa Mahal 

Hawa Mahal, popularly known as the "Palace of Winds", one of the iconic landmark of the Pink City that attract visitors from all over the world, Hawa Mahal is located in the heart of the old city near the City Palace. 

The Hawa Mahal is famous for its unique, honeycomb-like facade with 953 small windows (Jharokhas) that allowing air to circulate and kept the Hawa Mahal naturally ventilated even during the Hot summer.

The Hawa Mahal was primarily built for the Royal Women of the Rajput Court, because at that time women are not allowed to appear in public due to Purdah System. So, Hawa Mahal enabled them to perform daily street life, festivals and royal procession without being seen in public.

Jaipur City Palace

Jaipur City Palace is one of the most iconic and historical landmark in Pink City, located in the heart of the old city, about 5 km from the Jaipur Railway Station.

The City Palace was built in the early 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Singh, Founder of Jaipur City. It stands as the symbol of Rajput royalty and reflects the grandeur, culture and tradition of the Kachwaha dynasty.

Jaipur City Palace is a beautiful blend of Rajput, Mughal and European architectural style, it features a courtyards, ornamental gateways, carved pillars, marble floors and decorated interiors. 

The Main attraction of the City Palace is "Mubarak Mahal", were the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh Museum is located. It displays royal costumes, weapons, manuscripts and artifacts that reflect the royal life of Maharajas. 

The City Palace is also known for "Pritam Niwas Chowk", beautiful four colorful gates symbolize different seasons and Hindu deities, which making them one of the most photographed place in Jaipur.

Jantar Mantar 

Jantar Mantar is the "Monumental Astronomical Instrumental" place in the World, which reflects astronomy, mathematics and accurate timekeeping, located near the City Palace. 

Jantar Mantar relies on massive stone and marble instruments, designed to observed astronomical position with naked eye, instruments were built with extraordinary precision and are still considered accurate even today.

Jaipur

The Jantar Mantar consists of 19 large astronomical instruments, each are designed for a specific purpose, "Samrat Yantra" most famous among them, which measure accurate time, up to second. Other instrument includes "Jai Prakash Yantra", used to determine the position of celestial bodies, "Ram Yantra", measures altitude and architectural skill.

Nahargarh Fort 

Nahargarh Fort is one of the most prominent historical fort of Jaipur, located on a ridge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the Pink City. The Fort forms a part of Jaipur historic defence ring along with Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort.

The Original name of the Fort is "Sudarshangarh", but later name as the Nahargarh. It is well known for its stunning panoramic sunset view, strategic defensive position, unique water harvesting system and mainly for "Madhavendra Bhawan palace", because it have a royal chambers and Murals.

Jaigarh Fort

Jaigarh Fort, popularly known as the "Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagle)", the fort was primarily built to protect the Amber Fort and safeguard the surrounded region, royal treasury, weapons and military secrets. 

Many Forts in Jaipur are built for the royal residence, but Jaigarh Fort was built for military that reflect strength, security and functionality. The Fort is constructed with thick red sandstone walls and some walls rising up to 20 feet high.  

Jaigarh Fort is famous for "Jaivana Cannon", World largest cannon on Wheel. The Jaivana Cannon symbolizes the advanced metallurgical and engineering skills of Rajput.  

Jaipur

The Fort includes impressive thing like Laxmi Vilas, Lalit Mandir, Aram Mandir and large water tank capable of storing millions liters of rainwater.

Albert Hall Museum

Albert Hall Museum is the "Oldest Museum of Rajasthan", also known as the Government Central Museum, located about 4 km from the Jaipur Railway Station. 

Albert Hall Museum is famous for its Egyptian Mummy, royal artifacts, Indo-Saracenic architecture and beautiful night lighting.

Birla Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, popularly known as the "Laxmi Narayan Temple", located about 5 km approximately from Jaipur Railway Station at the base of Moti Dungri Hill.

Birla Temple is famous for its stunning White Marble, Modern Design and Peaceful Atmosphere.

Jal Mahal 

Jal Mahal is situated on the Middle of the Man Sagar Lake, beautiful palace floating on a water. located about 9 km from the Jaipur Railway Station. 

Jal Mahal was originally designed as a royal hunting lodge and pleasure retreat, featuring a unique 5 story structure with four submerged floor when the lake is full, this unique design enhance the palace mystique.

Gaitor ki Chhatriyan 

Gaitor ki Chhatriyan is a historic royal Cenotaph, serves as the "Cremation Ground" of the Kachwaha Rajput rulers of Jaipur, situated at the foothills of the Nahargarh Hills and about 6 km from the Jaipur Railway Station.

Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh 

Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh is a historic garden and palace, located about 10 km from the Jaipur Railway Station. 

The garden was built in the 1728 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh for his queen "Sisodia Rani", who was belonged to Sisodia clan of Mewar.

Kanak Vrindavan Park 

Kanak Vrindavan Park, popularly known as the " Kanak Ghati", dedicated to Lord Krishna inspired by "Vrindavan", it is a historical garden located at the foothills of Aravalli hills , about 11 km from the Jaipur Railway Station.
